滕牧師：我敬愛的牧者，是你親手為我施浸，帶領我屬靈生命成長。你又是我在中神的老師，更是我在工福事奉上的導師。你與工福同行四十載，自工福成立以來，你就已經是我們的顧問，你關心當時社會和教會所忽略的勞工群體。

你的離開，實在教人不捨。不過，我們會秉承你的教導：「要同心合意興旺福音，福音不是一個空洞的理想，而是實在的見證。」

Former Chairman of the Christian and
Missionary Alliance (Hong Kong)

It is an honor and privilege for me to express the utmost respect I and the other missionaries of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Hong Kong Field have for Dr. Philip Teng.

When missionaries arrive in a country which is foreign to them, it is imperative for them to be accepted and guided by the local church leadership. We could not have asked for a greater leader than Dr. Teng.

My first close working relationship with Dr. Teng was when I became the Field Chairman of the Mission in Hong Kong. In that position it was my responsibility to be the Chairman of the Board of The Alliance Bible Seminary and Dr. Teng was the Vice Chairman. It soon became apparent that I was serving with a spiritual, humble giant and I should learn all I could from Dr. Teng.

The obvious attribute was his humility. I urged him to be the Chairman and he refused many times. I would learn over the years of his incredible humility.

He was also a man with the ability to respect fellow workers and encourage them to perform with excellence. I often saw him encouraging young pastors and new missionaries as they struggled to be effective servants of God. He provided them with a role model of humility and devotion to the call of God in his life.

Even though he pastored a large church, he always had the desire to plant more churches and evangelize across Hong Kong. I recall signing a contract for property in Mei Foo Sun Tsuen for a church plant. With exuberant joy, Dr. Teng proposed that the North Point Alliance Church would consider it a privilege to totally support and develop the new church which is today, a very vibrant congregation.

Aside from church planting and evangelism, Dr. Teng had a strong passion for missions. I recall the early formation of the sending agency of the Hong Kong C&MA and his strong encouragement and active involvement. He became a model for the other churches in Hong Kong by going himself with his precious wife to serve as missionaries in Indonesia. His role model launched the powerful missionary outreach which prevails in the Hong Kong C&MA today.

Dr. Teng was also well known across the world as a great leader. I accompanied him to Korea where he spoke to over one million people at Explo 1973. He was honored by Dr. Billy Graham and respected worldwide as a great pastor, missionary, teacher, scholar, expositor, evangelist, author, husband, father and friend.

I also became a close friend with Dr. Teng. I found him to be very “down to earth” and a very considerate friend. He often gave me gifts and I treasure a scroll he personally prepared for me. He invited me to speak in his church often and was very tender as he helped me with some of my mistakes in the Chinese language.

His sense of humor was simply wonderful. He giggled and often tossed his head back in laughter.

He was a strong father and husband and his sons have been used of God as they minister. He modeled marriage and the love one should have for one’s wife and children.

It was my privilege to work with Dr. Teng as the mission turned over the Alliance Bible Seminary and the Alliance Press to the C&MA Church Union of Hong Kong. He insisted that we wait several years until the Church was prepared to accept these responsibilities. Once the transaction had taken place, Dr. Teng advanced these two ministries to the international levels of excellence they have attained today.

The Church worldwide will miss Dr. Teng and his articulate and effective leadership and ministry. I shall miss him personally as shall the other missionaries who served under his leadership in Hong Kong. We all thank him for being a godly role model in both his ministry and his personal life.

郭瑞榮牧師

1976年，我在建道神學院畢業後，到宣道會秀茂坪堂事奉，當時滕牧師擔任區聯會主席。他無論在同工退修會、同工會上，都很關心我們眾堂會同工，常問我們教會的情況，牧會有沒有困難。特別在同工退修會，眾同工排隊等候與滕牧師談話，他從不拒絕我們。1983年起，我在區聯會任部分時間幹事，後來在1985年轉任全職執行幹事，有幸在近距離接觸滕牧師，更看到他為人謙厚、關心同工。他擔任兩間神學院的院長，很多所機構的主席等，但他仍然承擔著區聯會主席一職，事事親力親為。他無論寫稿、計劃會議等等都能準時完成。我們有時工作做得不夠好，他仍鼓勵我們，讓我們眾後輩皆能放膽去事奉。他像是一把大傘，給我們遮風擋雨。從他所講的道，我們得到屬靈的餵養。他以身作則的榜樣，給我們認識甚麼是僕人服事。我認為滕牧師對香港宣道會的貢獻，絕不下於宣信博士對美國宣道會的貢獻，他實在是我們偉大的屬靈領袖。

Leone Taylor (Mrs. J. H.Taylor III)（戴紹曾師母）

The Lord was truly gracious to us (Dr. & Mrs. James H. Taylor III) as we served in Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong (for a total of 57 years!). For our Hong Kong days, Rev. Teng was a great confidant/encourager for Dr. Taylor in many ways. But that relationship began even while we were in Taiwan, and Dr. Taylor was invited to speak at the annual H.K. Bible Conference. When He led us to Hong Kong in 1991, He also provided a spiritual/outstanding servant of God in Rev. Teng to stand with us in adjusting to the church scene there. And a precious remembrance is that, at the last CCOWE conference Dr. Taylor attended (in Macau), he teamed up with Rev. Teng to express appreciation to the missionaries who had served in the Chinese church through the years. Personally, I find Rev. Teng’s translations of hymns (as found in Hymns of Life) a joy to sing. He will be sorely missed, but has joined Dr. Taylor in singing praises to our Heavenly Father around the throne.

我是60年代和80年代建道神學院的學生，就讀時有幸每個學期都有滕牧師教授的科目，故能屢蒙教益，深深影響我的屬靈生命。

滕牧師溫文謙遜地按正意分解真理的道，更是身體力行，在他的著作中也有多方分享及教導，成為我生命的良師。

記得在學期間，除了上滕牧師的課外，甚少在下課後找老師交談，所以我還以為滕牧師可能連我的名字也記不清。但事實卻非如此。當我在60年代畢業時找工場，竟然有教會主動接觸我，說是滕牧師推薦，令我十分感動。

滕牧師，你雖然是位名牧，但卻毫無傲氣及架子。永遠記得你的斯文、謙柔。記得畢業後，在小型教會事奉。每次邀請你講道，只要時間許可，你必樂意答允，不會厭棄教會規模小、人數少。

滕牧師，你在北宣毫無保留地擺上生命的事奉，更是我在教會牧養服事的典範！

敬愛的滕牧師，天堂見！
