滕近輝牧師高風亮節，是「香港差傳事工聯會」創辦人之一，更是委身差傳事工的佼佼者，對普世華人差傳事工發展貢獻尤大。哀聞滕牧師安息主懷，惟願我輩承接其志，再接再厲，忠於主的大使命！

感謝神恩，約在四十年前，我這個青年人跟隨滕牧師在遠東廣播公司、香港差傳事工聯會、華福中心……等機構事奉，學會了在自己的教會以外宣揚福音，建立神國。他事事身體力行，從不乏倦。他的信息，他的胸襟，他的品格影響了無數的教會和傳道人。滕牧師，我們都衷心地謝謝你！

自上世紀七十年代，在建道神學院受造就直到如今，從滕牧師的言教和身教上，我學到了事奉必需具備的三顆心：
- 謙卑的心：「服侍之道，第一是謙卑，第二是謙卑，第三仍是謙卑！」
- 清潔的心：「沒有罪在神面前是可以隱藏的！」
- 憐憫的心：1977年滕牧師毅然放下一切要務，前赴印尼宣教一年，他對福音未及之民所顯憐憫的心，大大激勵了我在堂會和機構的差傳事奉。
我深以曾受教於滕牧師為榮！

收到建道及華傳總部通知滕牧師被主接回天家，心中充滿了懷念。在建道的上課，在北宣的差派，在講台傳信息及台上的風範，在私下的約會談差會事…….這些畫面一一湧現。滕牧師的生命就是一篇信息，一篇好講章，一個好榜樣，一個君子的風範。他是我們的生命導師，培育了下一代華人教會的領袖。我們都在學效他，也深深懷念他。

I have known Dr. Teng for many years, and he was not only an effective and diligent interpreter, but his godly spirit and his deep dedication to the cause of Christ in China impressed all who met him on that trip.

For many years my wife Ruth and I prayed that God would open the door for us to visit China. Ruth had been born there (where her parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. Nelson Bell, had served the people of China for 25 years as medical missionaries), and she had never lost her love for the Chinese people. Finally in 1988 we received an invitation for us to visit the People’s Republic of China and for me to preach in several of its newly-opened churches. When we asked a number of knowledgeable people who would be the best interpreter for my sermons, the unanimous choice was Dr. Philip Teng.
I have known Dr. Teng for many years, and he was not only an effective and diligent interpreter, but his godly spirit and his deep dedication to the cause of Christ in China impressed all who met him on that trip. I thank God for his friendship and his willingness to help me see the Chinese people through his eyes. May the memory of his love for Christ and his humble Christ-like spirit challenge each of us to a deeper dedication to the Lord he both loved and served.

With sadness we have received the news that our dear brother Rev. Dr. Philip Teng has passed away. Along with the sadness there is gratefulness for the way God used him to be a blessing to so many.
From 1979-1983 he was President of the AWF and even before and after he had ministered within our global family. We published the news of his death on our website (www.awf.nu) and I am looking into the possibility to join you for the memorial service on the 16th or 17th of January.
May the Lord bless and comfort his relatives and the churches of Hong Kong.

滕牧師是北美華人教會最敬愛的牧者，也是美國華人宣道會聯會的永遠榮譽主席。牧師自八零年代末居美期間，一直致力於神學教育及普世差傳事工，在紐約宣道會神學院開創華人神學課程及差傳基金，至今仍不斷訓練華人牧者及宣教士，在北美及世界各地事奉。牧師心胸廣濶，願意提拔後輩，他的講道及著作至今仍幫助不少信徒。現今他息勞歸主，但他工作的果效必隨著他。

四十年來，與滕牧師有工作上的關係，其實應該說，四十年來在我所做的幾項事奉上得到滕牧師的支持與幫助。

四十年來，與滕牧師有工作上的關係，其實應該說，四十年來在我所做的幾項事奉上得到滕牧師的支持與幫助。
拿華福中心來說，在最開始進行華福運動之前，我們先請教滕牧師，是否可行，因為那時候，推動一個普世性的華人教會的聯合運動是很難想像的，幾乎是沒有人敢作。我那次趁著滕牧師來美國講道，就與他分享，商量。感謝主，滕牧師非常贊成，而且鼓勵我去作。所以華人教會有了一個普世性的華福運動，滕牧師在其中曾發揮了關鍵性的作用。這一點恐怕有些人還不知道，我願在這裡說出來。
然後， 滕牧師也作了大使命中心的董事會主席達十年之久。現在教會中有些人說，一個機構有滕牧師做董事會主席就是一個「定心丸」，大家對他們就有了信任，他們自己也有了信心。我覺得這話頗有道理。願神在華人教會中興起更多像滕牧師這樣兼有忠心、勇氣與智慧的工人。
大會給我七分鐘的時間，我用一半的時間作以上簡單的分享，用以下一半的時間和大家一同讀一段經文，這是保羅為主殉道前不久寫給提摩太的信，雖然他身在羅馬的監牢裡，卻寫出了這得勝的凱歌。我也要和大家一起唱這段經文。當我們讀和唱的時候，一方面紀念滕牧師，同時也作我們大家的鼓勵與提醒。調子很熟，大家一聽就會。現在先請大家一起讀：
「那美好的仗我已經打過了，當跑的路我已經跑盡了，所信的道我已經守住了。從此以後，有公義的冠冕為我存留……，不但賜給我，也賜給凡愛慕祂顯現的人。」（提後四7，8）
